Asst Prof Nayyer Aafaq received BE degree with distinction in Avionics Engineering from College of Aeronautical Engineering (CAE), National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Pakistan, in 2007 and MS degree with high distinction in Systems Engineering from Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australia, in 2012. Dr. Nayyer Aafaq is an outstanding early career computer scientist who has been acknowledged at both national and international levels. He achieved prestigious "Dean's List for Best Thesis Award” in his PhD from The University of Western Australia (UWA). He has published his research in the topranked sources that includes ACM Computing Surveys (IF~14.32), IEEE Transactions on Multimedia (IF~8.18), IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security (IF~7.23), IEEE Transactions on Artificial Intelligence and IEEE Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR) (the highest ranked (h5-index) venue in Engineering and Computer Science and is ranked 4th overall across all the fields by google next to Nature, NEJM and Science). Due to his influential research his PhD thesis has also been nominated for prestigious ‘Robert Street Award’ for the best thesis in Computing in Australia. His graduate student project won "First Consolation Prize (Third Position Nationwide) in Seminar titled "Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Defence Market; A Paradigm Shift in Military Strategy and National Security" at IDEAS-2022. Besides, Dr. Nayyer has also received SIRF scholarship valued approximately 260,000 AUD during PhD research. His current research interests include Deep Learning, Video Analysis and intersection of Natural Language Processing (NLP), Computer Vision (CV) and Machine Learning.
